 PROGRAM

Tu B’Schwat Pflänzchen

Seedlings planted at Tu B’Shvat
will be harvested for Passover.
Dear members and friends,
Winter blew in with January’s snows and cold but the activities in our congregation kept us busy and warm. Rabbi Shillor was with us for her monthly visit. Each visit helps our congregation to grow and develop and we look forward to our time with her. We have many things planned for February and hope that as many of you as possible will join us.

Tu B’Shvat Seder
Rabbi Shillor led our Tu B’Shvat Seder. We celebrated the “New Year of the Trees” with fruits, nuts, wine, prayer and song. We collected 60 Euros and sent them to the KKL in order to plant trees in Israel. It is always wonderful when we celebrate the holidays together.

After New Year’s Party
Thanks to everyone who made this special evening so enjoyable. The music program, food and drink-all made for an unforgettable night!

Feana Engler

Feana Engler offers first fruits
at the congregation’s Tu B’Shvat seder.

Giora Feidmann Concert
What a night! What a concert! Our gratitude go out to Giora Feidmann, Pastor Wolten and members of the Synagogue Task Force—Mr. Spangenberger, Mrs. Bruns, Mr. Stapp and Mr. Scheunenpflug—for their support and for allowing us to collect contributions after the sold-out Giora Feidmann concert! We thank all the concert-goers for their generousity and the 944 Euros that were collected!

National Holocaust
Remembrance Day

Our members joined with the citizens of Hameln to honor the memory of those who died in the Holocaust. A short ceremony was held at the memorial, which stands in front of our land at Synagogen Platz 1. The “Hamelner Forum” in cooperation with our congregation and other church and civil groups hosted a lecture from Professor Dr. Alfred Grosser.

Choir
We’d like to establish a synagogue choir. Who’d like to join? We’ll learn the liturgy together and beautify our services. Please call the office or let a board member know and we’ll set the first meeting!

Rabbi Arnold Zoref

Rabbi Zoref
Rabbi Zoref
Our beloved Rabbi Arnold Zoref has raised money for us in his home congregation. He has sent us 350 Euros, which will cover part of the costs of Cantor Francois Lilienfeld’s stay and services for the High Holidays. Thank you, Rabbi Zoref and the men of the Brotherhood of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange, New Jersey.

Kitchen Committee
We’ve talked about it for a long time — we really need a kitchen committee! We’re looking for a small group (2–4 people) who will carry out the plans for our holiday community meals. Contact the office or a board member and find out the duties involved.
