Dear Members and Friends,

We will be having our yearly membership meeting. The invitation has gone out, and everyone is aware of the protcol. We expect a constructive meeting. We hope that many members take part and that everyone remembers to follow rules of decorum, remaining in control of their emotions so that the meeting will be productive.
Rabbi Dow Marmur, WUPJ, Israel will be visiting Germany February 23–28. Home base will be the Liberal Congregation of Hannover. Let us know if you are interested in attending Friday night services. A meeting with all Union presidents will take place on February 24. A report of this meeting will appear in next month’s newsletter.
In cooperation with the Society for Jewish-Chistian Solidarity our congregation hosted the first in a new series of seminars titled “Open Discussion”. Two of our members led the first session, “Pictures of Russian Jews in our Town” telling about their lives. The afternoon was a sucess and is to continue next month at the Reformed Evangelical Church when the theme is “My Life as a Muslim”.

Preparing for the High Holy Days
We hope to establish our own Sisterhood chapter. All interested women are asked to attend this first meeting. We find it appropriate to have this meeting on Tu B’Schvat before our congregation Seder.
“Our Tree of Life” will be dedicated by Rabbi Dr. Robert Ash on Friday, February 2 . We expect two groups from local churches, who have also contributed to our tree. Those interested in purchasing a “leaf” (DM 100/$50) should contact our office and fill out a form. The first ten leaves can be seen at services on the 2nd.
We hope to discuss the idea of a Kitchen Committee at the membership meeting. Shall we keep our policy of everyone “having a turn” or shall we hire a committee to take over festival planning and preparations?
