Dear members and friends,
     This newsletter was written in May and so please excuse any ommissions. Please check in the office for any additions.

Information and News

The month of May was very busy and filled with various activities. Special events were the 9th of May Rememberance Day and a joyous Shavuoth celebration. Both were well-attended and beautiful events, thanks to all the helpful hands.
     As you see in the next 3 months, we again offer a variety of activities and hope there is "something for everyone"! We look forward to seeing you in your congregation!

Language And Dance Classes
     The summer months are upon us. Please speak with your instructors about classes during the summer months. Our office will be closed between the 1st and 14th of July.

New Space
     As you know, we've been looking for a new space for our congregation. Our landlord has given us notice and as of July 1 we must move on. After looking at many rooms in Hameln, the best offer is the room across the hall and although much smaller-it is all we can afford. We'll just have to sit a little closer and work a little harder to raise money to build our synagogue! For holidays where the new space is too small, we will hold services in either St. Elisabeth or St. Augustinus' social halls. We thank both churches for their generous gestures of hospitality. PLEASE help us with the move…everyone can do something to make the move quick and smooth.

Rabbi Visits
     Both Rabbis Irit Shillor and Jo David will be with us during the summer months. Members wishing an appointment should call the office.

Rabbi Shillor: June 3–12; August 23–30

Rabbi David: June 10–26

Both rabbis will lead services, teach, make pastoral visits, hold lectures and represent us officially in Hameln.

Membership Meeting
     Please make a note that on August 11th, we will be holding a special membership meeting to discuss the establishment of a foundation for the building and maintaining of our synagogue. Each member will receive an invitation in July.

Annual Conference
     The annual conference of the Progressive movement will take place in Arnolshain from June 27th to 30th. Further information and registration fprms are available at our office. Online registration is also available at www.liberale-juden.de. Cost: 155 Euros.

Summer Camp
     This year's Summer Machene will take place in the Harz mountains from July 18th to 28th. Sport, arts and crafts, Sabbath observance…all in a beautiful mountain retreat! Kids between 7 and 18 can register. Cost: 240 Euros for the 10 days. Registration forms available in our office.

Todah Rabah . . . . . Thank You
     Thanks again to all the helpers of last month's activities! Faina Pelts extends her personal thanks to all who stood by her during her illness. We're thrilled to have her back!

Tree Of Life
      The purchase of a “leaf” on our Tree of Life helps us achieve our goal of building a synagogue! Leaves can be purchased for 50 Euros each. New leaves have been ordered from B. Gelderblom and D. Vogelhuber. Thanks!

Tzedaka Boxes
     Please don't forget to “feed” your Tzedaka boxes at home and bring them to the synagogue so that the money can be added to our synagogue building fund!

Contributions
     This month we received contributions from Rabbi Jo David and Mrs. Kozkowa. We thank you!

New Members
     We welcome new members Mr. And Mrs. Tretyachenko and Zaslavsky. Please help make them feel welcome!

Condolences
     Our condolences go out to the Rubanov family on the loss of beloved husband and father Vladimir. May his soul be bound up in the covenant of life.
